ESMHL (Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning) certified since 2014

I received my PATH instructor certification in 2001 and began teaching therapy classes at RMRT in January 2004. I teach classes on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays; however, I am at the barn almost daily as my horse Tucker lives there (check out our Horses tab, he’s the really handsome Palomino!)

Besides my full-time job being a mother of two, I am a certified respite care provider for the Autism Society and volunteer as a CASA (court appointed special advocate) for Voices for Children.

ESMHL (Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning) certified since 2014

I received my NARHA certification in 2009 and try to incorporate my experiences as a public school teacher, parent, and riding instructor into my therapeutic horseback riding instruction at RMRT.

I love to ski and hike with my husband and two daughters, and have two Quarter horses, Buddy and Scout.

Heather Heather McLaughlin

I started as an occupational therapist in 1998, and have been using horses as a therapy partner part-time form the beginning. I also specialized in early intervention (birth to 3-year-olds) for 14 years, and joined the team at Colorado Outreach Project, a non-profit therapeutic preschool in 2012.

I joined RMRT in 2001 and assumed the role of program director/board president as well in 2006. I am currently at the barn on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

I am also the mother of 2 children, Forrest and Megan.

I started volunteering at RMRT in the spring of 2005 and received my PATH instructor certification in March 2007.

In spring the spring of 2010, I took a leave to work for the US Peace Corps, and returned to RMRT in June of 2012.

I'm glad to be back!

I have been working as a PATH International Riding Instructor since 1998 and enjoy all ages of riders. My specialty is to bring each and every rider to a place of discovery and empowerment in what they can accomplish in partnership with their horse.

I am happy to be at Rocky Mountain Riding Therapy and believe that this is truly an organization that puts out heart. Everyone I have met at RMRT is dedicated to the adventure or riding therapy. We truly have the best volunteers and staff of any barn I have worked with over the years.

I studied horse training and management at Arapahoe Community College Equine Program and specialized in training horses for therapy work. I have 5 horses of my own and work from my home in private practice. Horses have such a gift to share with people.
